About my novel

Songs of Reason is a science fiction adventure with a focus on immersing yourself in foreign worlds and traveling deeply into the psyche of various otherwordly creatures. You follow the exploits of A’jura, an alien from the underground world of A’mian. It is a world divided into two faiths where A’jura believes herself tasked to control the tensions between them. However, her methods prove difficult to understand for her people, and eventually even for herself. In search of understanding A’jura involuntarily hops into an adventure that leads her into the unknowns of the galaxy named Cloa Geska.

The novel takes several steps into the science fiction genre that aim for an immersive experience. Dialogue is crucial, omniscience of the reader is absent and your gaze shall be locked to the protagonist for most of the experience. As a result it becomes a non-stop wild ride of strangeness, miracles and twists with a psychological edge that tries to challenge your idea of what it means to be human (though you will not encounter any humans in this story, ever).

Songs of Reason is full of thought-provoking dilemma’s and consequences. It explores questions about sentience, free will and the way society is governed. It challenges the morality of its characters, doing away with the dichotomy of hero and villain to find a curious middle ground. Though it involves a magic system of its own, the rules are set but the board is wide open for obscene abilities guided by the hand of biology rather than an invisible force.

If you like a novel that gives you a blank slate; a new universe to explore that challenges your viewpoint of your own, then this novel is for you. The first three chapters are available on the main page for you to read. Though the novel is mostly finished, feedback is welcome and publishing is a very possible future.
